Leaders of banned Indian Muslim group arrested

Bhopal: Thirteen senior members of a banned Muslim group suspected of involvement in bombings India have been arrested, police said on Friday.

Students' Islamic Movement of India leader Safdar Nagori and 12 others were arrested in the city of Indore in the central state of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, police said.

"They are all known faces and we are investigating their links in recent bomb blasts in different parts of the country, including Mumbai," said senior police officer Madhu Babu.

Police say the group is also suspected of involvement in the Mumbai train bombings in July 2006 that killed more than 180 people.
