India probes Pakistan link to Mumbai attacks

Mumbai: Investigation into the massive militant attacks on Mumbai continued on Sunday, with police interrogating the only gunman who survived.

Indian and US officials speculate that the militants who killed nearly 200 people in three days of violence could have been from the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Gunman Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasar, who was caught on a CCTV camera wearing a T-shirt with the logo Versace, was reportedly being interrogated in a safe-house in Mumbai.

Indian media reported that the injured gunman had identified all the attackers as Pakistan citizens and acknowledged that they were trained by Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Pakistan has denied involvement, with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari urging India not to "over-react".

Officials said that 195 people had been killed and nearly 300 injured in the attacks, which began when the militants split into groups to strike multiple targets across the city.

About 30 foreigners were killed including nine Israelis, five Americans, two French, two Australians and two Canadians.

Do you think tensions will lessen between India and Pakistan? What will happen between the two countries? What steps should be taken to ease tensions?

Hopefully tensions will lessen. India should be patient at this time. We are all well aware that terrorism has no religion. Pakistan is also facing the same type of attacks in their country. Instead of blaming each other the two countries should work together to win this battle against terrorists.

It is not justified to blame Pakistan for the attacks, especially when Pakistan is also facing the same problem. Fighting will never be a solution. If anything it will only shed more blood and kill more people. This is the time when both nations should sit together and decide who is the common enemy of both the nations. They have to find reasons and roots of such horrible acts to solve the problem.

I urge the people of India to not blame anyone without proof. All Asians are one and should support each other.

The tension between the two countries has been there for decades but what has the outcome been: the loss of life of innocent people. It is sad to see politicans knocking on doors to ask for votes but did any of them visit the homes of the dead? No. I am sure the politicans will score on such circumstances. My heart goes out to the families who lost their dear ones, the scars are there for them. I know that this will be forgotten once other breaking news arise.

I really hope that the Indian government will undergo a proper investigation. Indian media have always been promoting peace in both countries.

India should not blame Pakistan for every woe it encounters. Whatever happens in India, many would show Pakistan as the culprit. When you cannot defend yourself do not blame others for it.

It will take time for tensions to calm down between India and Pakistan. India has to understand that even if the terrorists invloved in the Mumbai attacks came from Pakistan, the Pakistani government would not necesserily be involved. Even the things that are happening in Pakistan is not in its control.

I wish we could stop blaming Pakistan for every negative thing that happens in India. We are more advanced, more capable, and much better off economically than our eastern neighbor and therefore should show greater maturity. Let us not forget that they have equally heinous problems in their own country, but you do not see them accusing India of meddling in their affairs. Their government is certainly more mature than ours. We are fighting a common enemy here. How about trying something different for a change like cooperating with each other.
