Dharamsala: Doctors dispelled concern about the health of the Dalai Lama after he was admitted to hospital in India, one of his aides said on Friday.

The doctors have told us that absolutely there is no cause for concern," said Chhime Chhoekyapa, a senior aide to the Dalai Lama.

Chhoekyapa said the Dalai Lama is "doing fine" and is undergoing checkups, although he did not elaborate.

The 73-year-old Dalai Lama was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on Thursday with "abdominal discomfort".

He had cancelled two trips abroad after complaining of fatigue.
