Colombo: A bomb exploded on a bus in the central Sri Lankan town of Dambulla on Saturday, killing at least 20 people and wounding 50, the military said.
The military said the victims were travelling from the central town of Kandy to the north central town of Anuradhapura to attend a religious ceremony.
"The death toll has gone up to 20 and are 50 injured from the explosion," said military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara.
The military blames rebel group Liberation Tigers Tamil of Eelan for the blast. The Tigers were not immediately available for comment.
