US Democrats try to settle Florida, Michigan dispute

Washington: US Democrats will search for a compromise over disputed convention delegates from Florida and Michigan on Saturday.

A committee decision last year stripped Michigan and Florida of their delegates because they held nominating contests earlier than party rules allowed.

Both contests were won by Hillary Clinton, who is behind rival Barack Obama in the popular vote tally.

Clinton had demanded that the delegation be seated at the convention with full voting rights, while Obama supports alternatives that would seat fewer delegates.
