Washington: Agents from the US Secret Service have arrested a man in Mississippi for making threats to assassinate Barack Obama, according to the US Department of Justice.
Steven Joseph Christopher reportedly threatened to kill the US president-elect on his inauguration on January 20.
"Threats against the president-elect will be taken very seriously," said US attorney Dunn Lampton. "Threats of this nature will be pursued swiftly and vigorously," he said.
Christopher faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine if found guilty.
He wrote in a website he wanted to kill Obama "because I can no longer allow the Jewish parasites to bully their way into making the American people submit to their evil ways."
He pointed to Jewish appointees for Obama's future administration and accused Jews of contriving the September 11, 2001 attacks.
