Harare: The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), has released its own results of the Presidential election.

Zimbabwe's opposition party says its leader Morgan Tsvangirai has won the presidential election, releasing its own results to back up the claim.

The MDC's Party Secretary General Tendai Biti told a news conference that Mr Tsvangirai had won 50.3% of the vote, so avoiding a run-off.

According to the opposition President Robert Mugabe won 43.8% of the votes.

Results for the Presidential elections have yet to be officially declared but the state-run Herald newspaper has predicted a run-off.
