Wedding exhibition inaugurated in Sharjah

Sharjah: The five-day wedding exhibition was inaugurated on Tuesday at Expo Centre Sharjah as celebrity designer Walid Atallah showcased his new collection during the opening ceremony.

The Perfect Wedding Show was inaugurated by Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Wife of Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi.

The exhibition will last until March 1.

Saif Mohammad Al Midfa, Director General of Expo Centre Sharjah, said: "More than 100 exhibitors are displaying the region's biggest and finest collections of wedding dresses, related materials and a host of services that make a wedding function flawless."

The total cost of a wedding, according to conservative estimates, could range from Dh25,000 for a short ceremony up to millions of dirhams for an extravagant one.

"With a tradition of having extravagant celebrations for weddings, especially for those belonging to the region ... the functions are getting more elaborate than ever before," said Al Midfa.
