Dubai: Heavy rain lashed the UAE on Sunday, turning streets into rivers and slight inclines into lakes.

Traffic was snarled as driving conditions became dangerous and on major streets motorists crawled at a snail's pace to avoid skidding in the wet conditions.
Many an umbrella could be seen sheltering the UAE's residents, while others took to wearing rubbish bin bags and other plastic sheets on their heads.

People could be seen skipping over puddles to avoid getting their feet wet. In mountainous emirates the wadis filled up quickly, with the rushing water transforming the barren landscape.

On Monday, workers took to the streets across the UAE, starting the significant clean-up operation.

The majestic sight in Sharjah, is probably similar to what inspired Kermit the Frog to sing:
Toppled towers at Ras Al Khaimah.
Heavy traffic in Sharjah.
Flooded areas in the National Paints area in Sharjah.
Motorists endure a jam along Al Najda street in Abu Dhabi.
A man on his bike cuts through the flood.
A family going on a leisurely walk past the Burj Al Arab is reflected on a puddle.
Clean up crews are hard at work trying to get rid of water puddles after Sunday's heavy rain fall.
A man gets his feet wet to clear his bin at Sharjah Clock Tower area last night.
A worker smiles for the lens as he pumps out a clogged drain in Khalidiya area in Abu Dhabi.
Clean up crews were all hands the whole day on Monday to put Dubai's streets back in order.
