Dubai: Generally pleasant weather has been predicted for the rest of the Eid Al Adha holidays in Dubai, according to a forecaster at the Dubai Meteorological Office.

Conditions are expected to be warm today in the emirate with a chance for rainy spells over the next couple of days accompanied by the arrival of cooler winds.

Residents are heading outdoors with the winter arriving in the UAE, spending time with family and friends in the emirates' many parks and green spaces.

However, the rain is expected to clear with cool, breezy and fine weather on Tuesday and Wednesday — in time for the UAE's 38th National Day celebrations.

There is a chance of a thunderstorm and scattered showers in Abu Dhabi today.

"The first weather system associated with an upper trough in the westerly wind flow is already affecting Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iran with rain and cloud affecting those areas.

"The weather [pattern] will slowly move down the Gulf introducing fresh-to-strong north-westerly Shamal winds and the chance of some showers in Dubai on Sunday and Monday," a release from the office said.

Temperature drop

In effect, cooler air will be introduced, signifying the first significant temperature fall of the winter.

The temperature in Dubai is expected to be 33C today, with the maximum temperature falling to 26C by Wednesday.

While some residents have left the country for the holidays, those who stayed back can enjoy the "comfortable and nice weather" which is ideal for barbecues.

With the first light drizzle expected to fall tomorrow, forecasters announced that winter has officially arrived in the UAE. With the change in weather, people are advised to be on the lookout for colds and coughs and the usual flu.
