Abu Dhabi: In a landmark move in the Arab world, Emirates Voluntary Academy has been launched in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. The initiative aims at implanting voluntary work culture and qualifying local cadres in cooperation with public institutions, private sector and non profitable organisations.
A partnership agreement has been struck between the Zayed Charity Initiative and the Applied Technology Institute to activate joint cooperation in the voluntary service fields and train cadres in the societal development field.
The inauguration of the academy follows the resolutions issued by the Emirates Volunteering Conference and the GCC Voluntary Gathering, hosted recently by Abu Dhabi under patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bin Mubarak, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the UAE General Women's Union.
Dr Adel Al Shamri, Chief Executive of the Zayed Charity Initiative and Chief Executive of the Academy, said the academy will work under supervision of joint team work from the public institutions, private corporations and non profitable organisations in a concert model for sustainable societal partnership.
