Sharjah: Residents will be unable to spot the beauty of a total lunar eclipse on Thursday.

"You will only be able to see the first quarter of the eclipse (and that too partially), afterwards the sun will rise and block the view," said Ebrahim Al Jarwan, supervisor, Sharjah Planetarium.

The lunar eclipse will start at 4.33am and the total lunar eclipse will occur at 7.15am. The eclipse is expected to end at 10.17am.

Residents in the UAE will only be able to partially witness the initial phase of the eclipse.

"The only people who will be able to see the total eclipse are those living in the Eastern Coast of the US and in Western Europe," said Al Jarwan.

The Sharjah Science Museum and Learning Centre will conduct a lecture on Friday about lunar eclipses occur, said Ghada Abdullah, Instructor at the science museum.

The half hour lecture will be held in English at 6pm and then in Arabic at 6.30pm.
