Al Ain: The UAE Air Force will showcase its F16 aircraft at the forthcoming Al Ain Aerobatics Show, along with a team of paratroopers who will attempt to set a new freestyle world record.

The paratroopers will skydive, while displaying a huge national flag, said Staff Major General Khalid Abdullah Al Buainain, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence.

He said the UAE Air Force and Air Defence will have a strong presence at the five-day show which starts on January 11 (the second day of Eid Al Adha.) He said the F16 aircraft will be the main feature of the event and UAE pilots will conduct various manoeuvres to display their skills on-board one of the world's latest fighter aircraft.

"Most of the Air Force's airplanes will take part in the show," he added.

The Technical Institute of the UAE Armed Forces has invented an air simulation device and several models of remote-controlled jets. These models and jets are also to be displayed at the show.

Major General Al Buainain said aerial demonstrations by the UAE Infantry's Apache helicopters would also be among the UAE team's display.

Meanwhile, arrangements for the Al Ain Aerobatics Show have been finalised to host pilots, skydivers and stuntmen from 40 countries.

The event has been designed to present the country's culture and rich Arabian heritage to the world and boost Abu Dhabi emirate and the UAE in general as a tourist attraction.
