Dubai: Watching television could be bad for your health.
A 40-year-old Bangladeshi worker was left without two of his front teeth after it was claimed his 30-year-old roommate gave him a punch in the face because he asked him to turn off the television.
The incident happened when the worker, M.M., asked his roommate, J.J., to switch off the television because it was his bedtime.
Punched
Records said M.M. noticed J.J. jumped off his bed, from where he was watching TV, then walked towards him and gave him a blow on the mouth.
The Public Prosecution charged the suspect with assaulting M.M., causing him a one per cent permanent disability in his upper jaw.
The 40-year-old testified in his statement before the Public Prosecution: "It was 11.30pm when I went to bed and asked my roommate to turn of the television ... he refused before he walked towards me and punched me in the mouth. He broke my teeth and I bled over the bed."
Medical reports confirmed that the alleged victim lost one tooth and another got broken.
The suspect has pleaded not guilty and told the court that he didn't mean to harm his roommate, whom he accused of talking to him in an unacceptable manner.
