Two people killed in tragic accidents

Dubai: Two people were killed in two separate road accidents yesterday morning, police said.

In the first accident, three cars were involved in a crash that resulted in the death of a woman and injured the driver she was travelling with, when their car was hit by another car from the back.

The accident took place on Al Rebat Road going towards Nad Al Hamar. Police said an Emirati man who was said to be speeding and driving without paying attention to the road, hit the victims' car from the rear. As a result, the victims' car swerved to the right, hit the barrier and rolled over.

An Emirati woman died on the spot and the Emirati male driver of the car sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Rashid Hospital. The vehicle also hit another car in front after hitting the victims' car. No other injuries were reported.

The accident took place at about 9.30am and police cordoned off the area and diverted traffic which caused delays.

In the second incident, a Pakistani man who was said to be speeding was killed when he lost control, swerved to the right and hit a pole. His car caught fire and he was burnt to death. The accident took place on the Airport Road at about 11am.

Police have urged motorists to abide by the speed limits and pay attention to the road.
