Dubai: Three people died on the spot and four expatriates were injured on Friday after a minibus carried by a tow truck was powerfully hit by a speeding car on Shaikh Zayed Road.
The collusion caused the speeding car to dislodge the minibus from the tow truck, which directly landed on an Indian operator who was in charge of placing the minibus on the white Mitsubishi truck.
A police official told Gulf News that the accident was caused by the "irrational" speeding of a driver riding a silver Dodge with a Sharjah plate number.
"We still do not know the identity of the people who drove that car. The collision was so strong that the car caught fire and caused the minibus to fly over and hit the Indian operator," he said in a phone interview.
The identities of the "accused" driver and the passengers of the ill-fated accident remain unknown to the police, he said.
