Dubai: Access to a service road off Shaikh Zayed Road, between interchanges 2 and 3, has been closed, because subway excavations has caused asphalt to sink.

The Roads and Transport Authority has taken legal action against the service contractor responsible.

Adel Al Marzooqi, Director of Right of Way Services Department, said: "Road closure was done in association with Dubai Police General HQ and relevant parties, and will last for a few days pending rectification of the damage caused by the contractor. A contractor has now set up all guidance and cautionary signs.

He said the defect will be rectified in a few days time. The service road is on the Abu Dhabi-bound side of the highway.
