Ras Al Khaimah plans to start bus services

Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) will start bus services within three months.

The new services will connect various places in the emirate and will also connect Ras Al Khaimah with the rest of the UAE, it was announced on Tuesday.

"The authority will start inter-emirates bus service connecting Ras Al Khaimah and other emirates where new, air-conditioned buses will be operational on certain lines in Ras Al Khaimah travelling later to other emirates," said Colonel Nasser Muradad, Chairman of RAKTA.

A local company has already been commissioned to launch the services in the coming three months, he said adding that small buses will be used initially.

Routes

"Well-designed and air-conditioned bus stations have already been set up in certain areas of Ras Al Khaimah," he said.

Col Muradad said the buses will start from a central station in Al Nakheel area reaching the remote area of Sha'am in the north of Ras Al Khaimah.

Services will be run to RAK International Airport, Al Jazeera Al Hamra and many areas in the emirate, including Khuzzam area.

He said more routes will be added later to reach the remote southern areas.
