Sharjah: With 20 days gone in the month of Ramadan and the signs for car parking continue to display the wrong timings.
These signs can be seen in many commercial areas of Sharjah such as in Al Yarmook, Samnan and Al Sheyoukh.
Residents have pointed out that only in a handful of areas have they been corrected with the new timings.
"The new timings have been announced on the radio but I know many people who are still confused because the signs state that the parking charges start at 5pm," said P.S. Mathew, a resident of Al Rolla.
Paid parking timings have been extended during Ramadan from 8am to 1pm and from 7.30pm until midnight. Yet the signboards state that it starts at 5pm.
When contacted by Gulf News, a senior official at Sharjah Municipality said that the signs are expected to be adjusted by the end of next week.
"The municipality and a private company are responsible for the parking signs and we have already updated some of the boards.
"It will take time to change the rest of the signs but they will probably all be ready by the beginning of next week," said Tareq Bin Kalban, Acting Head of the Operation Section at the Department of Transport and Freight, Sharjah Municipality.
