One killed, 19 injured in Abu Dhabi crash

Abu Dhabi: One person was killed and nineteen others injured in a traffic accident on the Abu Dhabi–Ghweifat highway on Monday morning, police said.

The accident, which involved a truck hitting a bus from behind, is believed to have occurred because the bus driver wasn't paying proper attention to the road, according to Captain Mohammad Salem Al Shehhi of the western region's traffic and patrol department.

All the bus passengers were Omani nationals traveling to the UAE capital.

The deceased is a 54 year old passenger, Shehhi said. The injured, twelve of whom are female, were rushed to Al Mafraq hospital for treatment.
