New bus service begins today

Dubai: A new Dubai-Sharjah bus service will begin today between Al Qusais in Dubai and Al Jubail in Sharjah, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Friday.

Ten buses, including four double-deckers, will ply the route. The service will begin at 4pm and continue till 11.30pm, from Saturday to Thursday. On Fridays and official holidays, buses will operate between 7am and 11.30pm, with a 20- minute interval.

The route starts at Al Qusais Station, passes Beirut Road and enters Sharjah through Al Ta'awun Bridge, and from there it leads to Al Jubail Station.

Meanwhile, three bridges opened to traffic on Friday at Al Ittihad Road and RTA said they will help ease traffic flow on the main arterial road between the two emirates.
