More buses to reduce waiting time in Dubai

Dubai: "Average waiting time between public transport buses on most routes will be reduced from the existing 30 minutes to 10 minutes," said a senior official.

"With the arrival of new buses, more direct bus routes will be introduced in addition to increasing the number of buses on the existing 67 routes to reduce travel time for passengers," said Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dossari, CEO of the Public Transport Agency at the RTA.

He said the number of buses would be increased from the current 600 to 1,220 by the end of this year, and there will be about 2,500 public transport buses operating in Dubai by September 2009.
