Dubai: Sewage tankers and trucks that block traffic and commit traffic offences will be confiscated, a senior police official said.

Lt Col Saif Muhairi Al Mazroui, acting director of Dubai Police's Traffic Department, said the department will implement procedures against motorists who do not respect traffic rules.

There is to be a coordinated effort between the Traffic Department and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) regarding the congestion caused by sewage tankers in the Al Warsan area, which has already resulted in several accidents.

"The RTA has put up signboards banning trucks from parking in that area, while the traffic police are issuing fines to offenders," Lt Col Al Mazroui said.

Over 9,200 fines have been issued for offending trucks in the past 20 days since the campaign began.
