Therapy centre in Dubai sets up hotel project to raise funds

Dubai: The Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre has established a hotel project to raise funds for its running.

The centre has signed a joint-venture agreement with Bin Madi real estate agents to construct the building in Al Barsha, with half the income going to the centre.

Mariam Othman, director of the centre, said: “We were looking at a commercial venture because as a charity we are reliant on fundraising events, and we need a fixed, regular income. This will cover around one-third of our costs, which are high because of the equipment we need.''

The centre has 140 students, 80 out-patient visitors and around 90 staff and will continue to hold events to raise funds for its costs.

Building the hotel apartments will cost approximately Dh84 million.
