Dubai: A team of determined mothers and a group of quiz enthusiasts took centre stage at the Kilachand Theatre on Monday as Gulf News' Blockbusters entered the second day of heats in the adults' teams category.

Jude Bonner, Jenny Kinnear, Susanna Rowden and Theresa Tsui, also known as Einstein's Secret Children, emerged victorious in the day's first heat backed by arguably the most vocal crowd of the tournament so far.

A noisy and enthusiastic group of children from Jumeirah College and Jumeirah Primary School screamed and cheered every time the foursome got an answer right ensuring one of the best atmospheres of the competition to date.

Bonner acknowledged the team's fan club when speaking to Gulf News immediately after securing progress to the quarter finals.

She said: "We owe it to them really. Their support was fabulous and they helped us through. We had seen Blockbusters advertised in Gulf News and thought we would enter a team at the last moment.

"It's a good laugh and hopefully we can go further in the tournament. But if we win the TV I'm not really sure how we'll split between the four of us!"

The day's other winners were a group of self-confessed quiz enthusiasts. Dr Chandra Shekhar, Nikhil Soneja, Anjali Galgotia and Sandeep Fernandes of The Mavericks stormed into the quarter finals with a routine disposal of their rivals.

Fernandes said: "Nikhil and I are both previous winners of the Samsung Brain Challenge and Dr Shekhar and Anjali both won Gulf News Blockbusters in its original guise 14 years ago.
