Spanish king opens business forum in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: King Juan Carlos of Spain opened the Emarati-Spanish Business Forum at the Emirate Palace Hotel on Sunday.

The opening ceremony was graced by Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Miguel Angel Moratinos, Spanish Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Miguel Sebastian, UAE Minister of Economy Sultan Al Mansouri, Chairman of UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Salah Al Shamsi, and top economic officials from the UAE and Spain.

During the two-day forum, business delegates will have the opportunity to know the economic and business reality of Spain and UAE, as well as to test existing business and investment opportunities.

Spain is keen to have a higher economic profile in the region and UAE.

The commercial relations between both countries have been growing steadily in the last years, with total figures that stand at $1.13 billion in 2006, and $1.32 billion in 2007.
