Solidarity Day events in aid of Gazans start today
Dubai: Solidarity Day events meant to reach out to the Palestinian children in Gaza will commence on Wednesday in Dubai with various government departments organising lectures, exhibitions, and fund-raising efforts in line with an announcement from the Dubai Executive Council.
The campaign is one of several initiatives launched across the UAE in response to the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to extend support to victims of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
As part of the "Gaza's Children... Our Children" campaign announced by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) is organising a number of activities in coordination with other governmental bodies to support the children of Gaza.
The Dar Al Ber Society and The Red Crescent are also involved prominently in the solidarity campaign which will also be observed on Thursday.
The Department of Health and Medical Services (Dohms) has designated the Rashid, Dubai and Al Wasl hospitals, along with its headquarters, as drop-off points for donations.
