Ship reported missing off Abu Dhabi coast
Abu Dhabi: Brigadier-General Muhair Ali Al Khateri, Head of Installations and Vital Premises Protection Department announced the loss of a ship owned by Delma Cooperative Association in the area between Jebel Al Dhana and Jirneen Island off Abu Dhabi.
The lost ship, with nine passengers including the crew, was carrying lorries and cars.
Al Khateri said that all contact with the ship ceased two days ago, and as a result, the department sent out six military boats and two choppers in search of the lost ship.
The rescue operation led to finding one of the ship's passengers who was found in serious health conditions, but the rest of the ship's passengers and crew have not been found yet because of the bad weather conditions that impeded vision.
Al Khateri expressed his hopes in finding the ship and its passengers as the weather improves.
