Dubai: The Caltex RoadStar campaign moves into the final phase for the current year with the 26th edition of the award-winning bi-annual contest scheduled from Sunday to Thursday.
Being held for the 13th year since its inception in 1998, in conjunction with the Emirates Motor Sports Federation (EMSF) and the police departments of the concerned emirates, the five-day campaign will take place in Abu Dhabi on Sunday and Monday, Sharjah on October 18 and then Dubai on October 19 and 20.
During the campaign, a police officer and event organisers will patrol the streets in a BMW GT in search of good drivers.
Drivers who observe basic principles of good driving such as wearing seat belts, using child safety seats, using indicators and hands-free mobile phones, observe lane discipline and display courtesy in addition to adhering to speed limits will come under the organisers' scanner.
Rewards
Besides being rewarded with a cash award on the spot, gifts and a certificate endorsed by the police of the respective emirates, the campaign also aims to contribute to making a difference to the lives of the many winners, who most often send the reward money home to support their families.
