Schools in Al Quoz opened as usual but students didn't turn up
Dubai: Schools in Al Quoz that had to evacuate their students on Wednesday after an explosion at a fireworks warehouse functioned normally on Thursday, but most students were absent.
Fatma Al Marri, CEO of the Dubai Schools Agency, said around 30 to 35 per cent of the students didn't show up at the school on Thursday, although the school had a normal academic day.
"We had to let the students leave early as there was no point in continuing with large number of absence," she said.
Gulf News has also learnt that few schools were closed on Thursday.
On the day of the massive explosion, eleven schools were immediately evacuated in Al Qouz in a protective measure taken to ensure students' safety.
