Religious books wash up on Ras Al Khaimah beach
Ras Al Khaimah: Police sought help from labourers to pick up hundreds of copies of the Quran and books on the teachings of the Prophet Mohammad [PBUH], which had washed up on to the beach.
Women who were walking on the beach reported it to the police.
Al Maamourah Police then took help from the labourers to collect the books. The copies had apparently been discarded in the sea, which is acceptable among Muslims to dispose of religious books as they cannot be burnt or destroyed in any other way.
But the waves brought the copies back on to the beach, police said.
A senior police officer said information about the religious books was received at Al Maamourah Police Station and police patrols were instructed to check over them.
The officer added it was assumed the owner of these copies wanted to get rid of them by throwing them into the sea.
The officer added the books could not have been left on the beach.
