Queue of trucks waiting at UAE-Saudi border eases

Near Al Sila: The situation eased dramatically overnight on the UAE-Saudi border as truckers now face an eight kilometre wait to cross the border.

Two days ago, the tailback stretched to around 35 kilometres.
This morning, UAE Red Crescent officials patrolled the line of trucks distributing food supplies and water, and checked on the drivers' medical conditions.

Four days ago at the height of the crisis, drivers moved mere metres per day and some had been in the line up for days on end.

Most of the truckers now in line appeared to have arrived late on Saturday or overnight.
