RAK creates award for government excellence
Ras Al Khaimah - Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has issued a decree setting up an award for government excellence. The objective of the award as defined by the decree is to upgrade the performance of local government departments and underline the importance of the government sector in bolstering development in the emirate.

UAE envoy meets Lebanese minister
Beirut - Mohammad Sultan Al Suwaidi, UAE ambassador to Lebanon, yesterday met Jihad Azour, Leban-ese Finance Minister. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.

26 traffic accidents in a week
Abu Dhabi - A total of 26 motor accidents were recorded in Abu Dhabi from August 13 to 19. The accidents resulted in the deaths of two persons, while 50 others suffered various degrees of injuries, according to official report by Abu Dhabi Police headquarters. The accidents were mainly attributed to reckless driving and jumping of traffic lights.

Blood donation camp held
Abu Dhabi - The New Medical Centre (NMC) Hospital in Abu Dhabi conducted a blood donation camp last Wednesday. The event was in association with the General Authority for Health Services and it was also coordinated by the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank.
