Media targets human trafficking

Abu Dhabi: A media campaign to raise awareness about human trafficking will be launched at all UAE airports.

The UAE National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking discussed steps to be taken as part of the campaign and their implementation during a recent meeting.

Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of Foreign Affairs and chairman of the committee, said the campaign is of strategic significance as it aims to limit the number of people falling prey to human traffickers after being snared in fraudulent transactions and fictional contracts.

The committee also reviewed a draft memorandum outlining the country's point of view vis-à-vis cooperation with other countries on this front.

"Cooperation with other countries is important in combating human trafficking and enable data sharing about similar crime in other countries," he said.
