Indian man hospitalised with third-degree burns

Dubai: The man who was critically injured in a warehouse fire on Thursday is not expected to survive, doctors said.

The 37-year old Indian man has third-degree burns all over his body.

Cruz Fernandez was brought in a semi-conscious state into the Trauma Centre at 11:48 am with 100 percent burns to his body.

He was intubated and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Dr Viktor Mikhaeel Butros, surgical-in-charge at the centre, told Gulf News his chances of survival were poor.

"He will likely die in two or three days. In such cases, even if he remains alive, he could develop complications such as renal failure and saepticaemia after two or three days. If he does not die from the burns, he might die from the complications," he said.
