Ice Surprises a great way to escape sweltering summer

Dubai: Ice Surprises, which ends today, has offered a chance for shoppers to escape the sweltering summer heat into an ice cool week of fun.

The first of ten themed weeks which make up DSS, Ice Surprises offered a wide variety of activities for all the family, From learning how to ice skate, art workshops, or even taking in a spectacular ice circus show, residents and visitors alike praised the entire week's offerings.

Maysa Mohammad, a resident of Sharjah says the Ice Surprises Week was perhaps the most awaited week because it gave a much-needed break from the summer heat.

"Snowfall and other ice themed events brought cool treats to all visitors and residents of Dubai. Combined with artistic shows and grand events the week's activity calendar provided wholesome entertainment to people of all ages."

Mohammad Abdul Azeem, who works for a tourism company, says he admired the skill and craftsmanship of the ice carvers who created artworks from ice.

"It was very interesting to watch ice blocks taking fascinating shapes. I also enjoyed shows by international bands. I think the way the events were organised is quite commendable. The various venues had something to offer to everybody."

Raymond D'Mello, a father of three, who has recently come from Las Vegas said that the activities and events of the Ice Surprises Week were on par with the best in the world.

His three children were looking forward to attending the DSS and were overjoyed to see so much on offer in the first week itself.

"They are eagerly awaiting the upcoming themed weeks. Modhesh Fun City turned out to be a major draw with my three-and-a-half year old son who wanted to go there every other day."

DSS continues tomorrow with Art Surprises.
