Humanitarian City board restructured

The decree appoints Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of Shaikh Mohammad, as Chairwoman of the board

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, yesterday issued Decree No 33 of 2012, restructuring the board of Dubai's International Humanitarian City (IHC).

The decree appoints Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of Shaikh Mohammad, as Chairwoman of the board. The other eight members appointed by the decree are Ebrahim Mohammad Bu Melha, who will serve as vice-chairman; Abdullah Ahmad Al Habbai, Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Shaibani, Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Abdul Rahman Ahmad Al Shamlan, Hilal Saeed Al Merri, Hashem Abdullah Al Qasim and Saeed Mohammad Hareb.

The decree comes into effect from the date of its issuance and is to be published in the official gazette. On the occasion of being appointed Chairwoman of DIHC, Princess Haya said that the UAE and Dubai take seriously their moral obligation to be at the heart of humanitarian assistance.

Mission

Dubai's role and strategic position have been strengthened further as a direct result of Shaikh Mohammad's decree, appointing a new board of directors for the IHC.

Princess Haya thanked the previous board members, praising them for their direction and contribution towards IHC's growth in recent years.

"We look forward to the new board's contributions to doing this work even more effectively in the future," said Princess Haya.

The mission of the IHC has been to supply leading humanitarian actors with world-class logistics infrastructure, value-added services and administrative support.
