UAE pharmaceutical bill gets go-ahead

Abu Dhabi: The Cabinet on Sunday gave the go-ahead for the drafting of a federal bill to regulate pharmaceutical products, profession and firms.

The move was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in Abu Dhabi.

The Cabinet also passed a federal draft law concerning the national centre for documents and research. It discussed recommendations put forward by the Federal National Council (FNC) on the general policies of the Ministry of Health.

A number of agreements signed by the UAE with other friendly countries were also approved. The Cabinet also approved the Marriage Fund's budget for the fiscal year 2008.

Shaikh Mohammad also visited His Majesty King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa of Bahrain at Ghantoot. Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the guest, adding that fraternal visits boost bilateral relations between people of the UAE and Bahrain.

King Hamad said that he was amazed at the continuous growth being experienced by the UAE in all fields, adding that "during each visit to the country he sees new things in different sectors."

Present at the meeting were Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Aviation Department and chairman of the Emirates Airline Group, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Lieutenant General Musabah Al Fattan, director of Shaikh Mohammad's office.
