Dubai: Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health, has issued instructions to take care of all medical requirements of one-year-old Emirati Mohammad Khamis Rashid Al Za'abi, currently on life support at Fujairah Hospital.
Mohammad's illness dates back to his birth, as he was born prematurely during the sixth month of pregnancy with cranial liquid retention (brain swelling) and brain paralysis. His condition deteriorated last Tuesday on the way back from Al Wasl Hospital to Kalba and he was admitted to the intensive care unit of Kalba Hospital.
The child had undergone surgery at Al Wasl Hospital but his parents had sought to take him to a visiting consultant at Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi before his condition worsened.
Dr Ameen Al Amiri, executive director of Medical Practices and Licensing Affairs at the Ministry of Health, said the little boy's case was being followed up in line with the minister's instructions.
The child had since been transferred from Kalba Hospital to Fujairah Hospital to be under the constant supervision of specialised consultants, Al Amiri said.
