Government starts Executive e-council

Abu Dhabi: An electronic Executive Council has been launched by the government to improve the management of departments, enhance their performance, and evaluate their impact, top officials said on Sunday.

The e-council was launched by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at a ceremony at the Emirates Palace Hotel.

It will help the public have their voices heard about the performance of the various departments and give the public online contact with Executive Council members, said Mohammad Ahmad Al Bawardi, secretary-general of the Executive Council.

It will give members of the Executive Council access to detailed strategies. Through an integrated web system, members will get feedback about the performance of their departments.

Al Bawardi said the move comes within the framework of the endeavour to become one of the world's top five performers in good governance.

"This will not be achieved without public participation," he said.

Decisions taken by the Executive Council and other recommendations will be sent to the concerned departments online.

The streamlining of internal operations was another goal for the e-council. The Executive Council's website (gsec.abudhabi.ae) has a coherent strategy, which helps officials, the public and staff know what the government is trying to accomplish.

Fatma Al Mosa, head of the PR and Communications department at the general secretariat of the Executive Council, said open communication was the key for any successful organisation.

Functions: Electronic platform

The electronic executive council has six systems. The First System (Members Page) Designed to fulfil the requirements of Executive Council members, provide an electronic platform for information sharing, reviewing plans and strategies as well as performance control and customer satisfaction. It will provide a tool to view local and international news and access to all internal applications.

Second System: (eAgenda), provides a tool to prepare and publish agendas of the Executive Council and its committees.

Third System: The website of the general secretariat of the executive Council. It strengthens communication with the public.

Fourth System: Intranet, the private network that promotes inter-communication between the different departments of the general secretariat of the Executive Council.

Fifth System: the administrative and financial system. It integrates all facets of the internal processes

Sixth System: e-Diwan. It connects all government departments with the general secretariat of the Executive Council.
