Dubai:His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday visited the Union House and planted the Union Tree alongside a number of Emirati children.

“God has given us many blessings which were brought forth by the Union, which encompassed the entire country and witnessed the completion of various achievements in a number of fields for future generations. Today, it is our duty to continue building our country with the same determination and hard work,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

“On the occasion of National day, it is my hope that we plant such trees that we will care for and preserve, and we should raise our children to care for these trees just like they would care for the Union,” he added.

“It is our duty to preserve the blessings we have attained, the fruits that sprung forth from the Union tree, by caring for the environment and planting trees,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

On twitter, Shaikh Mohammad urged users to post pictures of Union Trees which will be planted in public and private establishments and houses. He called on people to care for the trees as they would the Union.

Shaikh Mohammad’s initiative aims to bond feelings of nationalism on national day through a symbolic act that reflects the citizens’ love and loyalty for their country by planting Union trees in houses, public sector establishments such as schools or hospitals, shopping malls, and so forth.
