Shaikh Khalifa welcomes visiting Spanish king

Dubai: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Spain's King Juan Carlos at the Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Shaikh Khalifa welcomed the king and the delegation accompanying him, stressing the UAE's commitment to strengthening ties with Spain through investment and cooperation.

The king praised the UAE's policies, expressing his pleasure for being in the UAE, saying it is testament to the two countries' growing relations. A number of agreements were also signed between the two countries.

The two leaders held discussions on bilateral relations as well as the Middle East peace process and other issues of importance.

Meanwhile, King Juan Carlos also inaugurated the Emirati-Spanish forum in Abu Dhabi at the Emirates Palace hotel, which is running alongside the King's visit to the UAE.

The opening was attended by Miguel Angel Moratinos, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, the UAE minister of economy, along with 500 individuals representing major companies and institutions in the UAE and Spain.
