Companies banned from operating in emirate
Ras Al Khaimah: The Department of Economic Development has permanently shut down 38 commercial outlets that failed to renew their commercial licences.
Ahmad Al Beloushi, who heads the Inspection and Customer Protection Section at the department said that owing to their expired licences, the outlets, which are mainly real estate offices, were no longer supposed to run any business in the emirate.
He said the department had notified the owners of these outlets that their commercial licences had already expired and urged need to renew them.
Follow-up
He also added that the department had sent text messages to the owners of the concerned outlets, as part of follow-up efforts to inform them to renew their licences.
The department then issued a first warning, followed by a second, third and then final warning to the concerned outlets. The owners were also given another month as a grace period to approach the department and renew their commercial licences. However, they failed to show up to comply with regulations.
Al Beloushi also said department inspectors had fined violators Dh1,000 but that did not work either.
He said that the permanent shut down of the violating outlets has been approved after the department made all possible legal measures to make the owners renew their commercial licences, which they had failed to do.
