RAK gears up for celebrations
Ras Al Khaimah: The Civil Aviation Department here announced a National Identity Programme to mark the UAE 37th National Day.
Addressing a press conference, Shaikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, who heads the department said the programme aims to sponsor social activities. He added that the department will educate the coming generations about the civil aviation services.
Shaikh Salem said the section has made all the necessary arrangements by coordinating with the emirate's Educational Zone where thousands of school students will take part in the programme.
He added that a sizable budget has already been allocated for this course which will be launched today during a major festival at Al Qawasim Cornish. He said the various activities and events of the programme will be carried out in the emirate's schools and kindergartens.
Shaikh Salem said a race dubbed "carry the UAE flag marathon" will be organised during the Awafi Festival scheduled to take place later. He stressed that this competition will be open for all, where participants will carry the UAE flags all through the marathon.
He added that live radio and TV competitions on the history of the industry of the civil aviation will be conducted and that the emirate's based travel and tourist agencies will also organise similar activities.
