Abu Dhabi: A unified central system for cust-omer complaints and suggestions to gauge customer satisfaction will be set up to improve government performance in the UAE.

The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

Shaikh Mohammad has instructed ministers and all employees of federal bodies to continue developing customer service and providing all necessary facilities, considering customer satisfaction as the indicator of the quality of service rendered.

The Cabinet discussed a number of issues relating to national affairs and providing world-class services to customers in various government ministries and authorities.

Shaikh Mohammad said a minimum 70 per cent customer satisfaction rate must be achieved, which must be stepped up to reach the maximum rate by 2015. The Cabinet approved the 2009 budget of the National Media Council and the closing accounts of a number of federal bodies.
