Mohammad lays foundation for Morocco project

Rabat: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco, on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of the $750 million-residential and tourist complex "Bab Al Bahr" in Morocco.

Bab Al Bahr (Sea Gate) is the fruit of a joint venture between the Bouregrag Agency and the Abu Dhabi-based Al Ma'abar International.

The giant tourist project, stretching across an area of seven million square feet, includes residential and trade buildings, public facilities, recreational facilities, a palace, five-star hotels and hotel apartments, as well as a conference room, a shopping mall and a theatre.

Shaikh Mohammad was briefed on the various phases of the project, which is expected to be completed in 2012.

Adopting features of Arab and Andalusian architecture, the project is a successful marriage between traditional and modern styles.

Prince Moulay Rachid hosted a dinner banquet in honour of Shaikh Mohammad and the delegation accompanying him.
