March towards progress, prosperity

Dubai: Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, yesterday lauded the outstanding contribution of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to the country's development since taking office two years ago.

Commenting on the stupendous outcomes of the programmes initiated by Shaikh Mohammad, Al Gergawi said: "With the beginning of his third year in office as the Vice-President and Prime Minister, the UAE the government is stepping into a new era, strongly characterised by the implementation of the Federal Strategy.

"The past two years are distinctively marked by strategic planning and development, in keeping with the vision of the country's wise leadership to establish a modern state that can face the current challenges while laying the groundwork for a more advanced future role."

Al Gergawi added: "Apart from pioneering administrative, social and political inventiveness, the past two years mirrored the meticulous implementation of the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

"The UAE President has set national empowerment as a key objective and as the path to safeguard the country's achievements while pressing ahead with progress to gain prosperity."

Reiterating the phenomenal role of Shaikh Mohammad in leading the Cabinet towards completing the first integral federal strategy in the history of the UAE, Al Gergawi pointed out the third year would no doubt lead to reaping the benefits of this programme and mark the start of the country's leap towards further accomplishments.

Al Gergawi said: "Shaikh Mohammad realised that a successful team needs a leader who walks with his team members while engaging them in key decision making processes."

Contrary to the popular belief that a leader alone needs to be strong enough for the team to succeed, Shaikh Mohammad has always worked with a team of promising colleagues of outstanding leadership qualities to prove the sceptics wrong.

He concluded: "Ever since Shaikh Mohammad started the march towards progress, he has demonstrated his characteristic leadership role to complement the vision of Shaikh Khalifa to develop the country as an integrated, competitive and prosperous entity at federal level."
