Khalifa receives congratulatory cable from Al Atiya

Riyadh: The President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received a congratulatory cable from the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al Atiya, on the choice of UAE as the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena).

Al Atiya also congratulated the UAE government and people for the achievement.

In a statement to WAM, Al Atiya said the choice of UAE as the headquarters of Irena, was a great achievement and a source of pride for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). He pointed out that Abu Dhabi, being the Irena Headquarters will gain a special status capable of making it the platform for launching efforts and initiatives in the area of scientific research and studies, a centre of attraction for brains and experts in the area of renewable energy, just as it will also provide opportunity for technology transfer, adding that the choice of Abu Dhabi as the Irena headquarters was a good example of cooperation between the developing and the advanced countries.
