Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday received cables of condolence on the demise of Shaikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum from Saudi Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Riyadh, Prince Saud Al Faisal, Saudi Foreign Minister, and Prince Turki Al Faisal, Saudi ambassador to the United States.

Similar cables were sent by John Howard, Australian Prime Minister, Nepal's King Gyanendra, Nicola Michelle of the Lebanese Parliament, Imam Al Sadiq Al Mahdi, Chairman of Sudan's Ummah National Party, Mohammad Al Safadi, Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport, and Kostas Karamanlis, Greek Prime Minister.

Shaikh Khalifa also received cables from Guy Verhofstadt, Belgian Prime Minister, Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of Indonesia, Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Kuwaiti Prime Minister, Dr Mohammad Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Shaikh Sa'ad Al Abdullah Al Salem Al Sabah, Kuwaiti Crown Prince, President Tandja Mamadou of Niger, Mahmoud Abbas, President of Palestine, Ahmad Qorei, Palestinian Prime Minister, President Lech Kaczynski of Poland, President Jalal Talabani of Iraq, and Frank Walker, Prime Minister of the British island of Jersey.
