Future Energy Prize nominations being accepted
Dubai: Nominations for the first annual Zayed Future Energy Prize are now being accepted.
The prize has been launched to encourage innovations in the field of clean energy and sustainable development and will be awarded to three individuals, companies, organisations or non-governmental organisations that have made significant contributions in the global response to the future of energy.
The Zayed Future Energy Prize is modelled on the status and integrity of the Nobel Prize and will draw attention to future energy issues. Each year, nominators will be invited to put forward pioneers and role models that have made significant contributions in the global response to the future of energy.
The winner and finalists of the first Zayed Future Energy Prize (ZFEP) will be announced at the World Future Energy Summit on 19 January 2009. The winner will receive $1.5 million (about Dh5.5 million) and two finalists will receive $350,000 (about Dh1.2 million) each to take their ideas and ambitions forward.
Nominations and submissions will be open until August 6, 2008 and September 30, 2008, respectively.
